Overview

BioStruct is a large scale collaborative project funded by the European Commission. The project involves 20 partners from 10 European countries, and has a total budget of around 10 million €.

The project aims to develop the next generation of wood and cellulose-reinforced composites - so-called "enhanced wood-plastic composites" or eWPCs - for complex structural and multifunctional components. Material development will be accompanied by parallel process development to optimise the potential of the new composites. The newly developed materials and processes will be implemented in four different industrial sectors: automotive, construction, electronics and packaging.
